Question:

Hibiscus leaf and bud dropping?

I have several hibiscus plants. Two of them are outdoors in full sunlight. However they started dropping so many leaves I became alarmed and moved them into partial shade. However they are still having leaves turn yellow and fall off at a slow, but steady rate. And one of them is dropping most of it's buds. I don't believe it's pests, because they had an aphid infestation earlier that I treated with insecticidal soap. I've been watering them about every other day, and they were fertilized with Osmocote 18-6-12. Any suggestions?

  1. sounds as though you have been overwatering them. Don't know what size they are, but don't re-water unless the soil, below an inch deep, is dry. You would be better using a probe that extends towrd the bottom of the pot and test the moisture there than at the surface. Generally, yellow leaves means too much water.
