High School WGI?

Question

Okay I want to do the winter drum line at my school after marching season is over but I don't know how to play ANY percussion instruments. I was thinking about doing an instrument in the pit but wasn't sure what a beginner should start on. Our high school just started doing winter drum line last year and said you don't have to have experience but I want to know what you think about it. So what should I start on and how would I prepare?

Well the easiest instrument on drumline that wouldn't be too hard to pick up, to me, would be the cymbals.

We recently had a guy with no experience come to our band and they put him on drumline on the cymbals. He picked it up really fast, and he's quite good.

I would consider cymbals. Good luck! =]
