  1. It depends how much of a natural at it. If you are flexible and good at gymnastics then you might be able to pick it up quick.

I started diving when I was 8, being a decent gymnast and flexible. Within a month or two I could do a couple of the dives they are doing in the olympics!

  2. I've taught many High Schoolers how to dive with no previous experience, several of them making my varsity team.  The gymnasts of course are able to adapt quickly.  JV divers must learn 3-4 categories of dives, and Varsity divers must learn all 5 (Front, Back, Inward, Reverse, Twists).  You dont have to have complicated dives to start with... so i'll bet you get 3 of the categories down in no time!  Good luck, and dont be discouraged, the first week will be a little slow.

  3. If u were a gymnast u already have experience with the flipping and twisting part. It is actually a lot easier than gymnastics because u have the springboard which is kind of like a trampoline. And it is easier to the dives because u have a 3 ft. advantage. It is also a lot less painful. So u should be fine if u have done gymnastics.
