Look where there are man made items that could not have been accomplished unless there was some kind of tool or measuring technique. Such as the Great Pyramids, Statues of Budda, buildings of great stature. All with BC dates.

When man became interested in the heavens of stars, there was an interest in knowing what was seen and a interest to measure the time of events.
