Hitler / Cars?

Listen, I know Hitler was evil so, please, if you don't actually know about the SPECIFIC quesiton I am asking, skip it. Did Hitler ever make German citizens private automobiles property of the state (late 1930's) to support the war effort?

  1. i dunno, bt in the first war 750,000 german citizens died of malnutrition becoz all the food was being sent to the soldiers fighting. thhat wasnt hitler but yea


  2. He never made them property of the state. The army seized some in the very end of WW2 because of shortages (supply routes were cut), and commanders and wounded needed to be transported. Also, you needed a special card to be allowed to drive around in your car at specific times (after dark, for instance), and you couldn't get any fuel because of shortages, unless you owned an important business. All the fuel was going to the Army.

    But Hitler never seized cars. He did allow the Army to seize cars for immediate transport and emergencies.

  3. Volkswagen.

    means 'Peoples Car' it was developed and sold to the German people in WWII.
