Hog showmanship questions???

I'm going to be showing hogs at the fair and I was wondering if anyone knew what kind of questions the judges will be asking about my pig. I'm also in the beginning class, if that makes a difference.

THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!

  1. Hey...I show hogs too! When doing showmanship they usaully don't ask questions until you make it to the final round. Some questions they asked me were:

If you could read the ear notching of your pig...and you would have to tell the judge its correct id number.

Also, they will give you breeding scenarios so you have to decide what type of pig was the sire/sow.

Hope this helps! If you need anymore help feel free to email me...its on my profile page. Have fun showing!

  2. Cash gave some good ideas.  They may also as where certain parts of the pig are located (ex. loin), where different cuts of meat come from, how much and what type of feed do you feed your pig, about what dressing % you would expect your pig to have, the weight of your pig, etc.

  3. The judges generally won't ask you any questions except something like "Would you turn him around please?" or something along those lines.

  4. maybe about what you feed him.... how much and what kind of food. and his breed make up.

keep him in front of the judge..... he can't see him is he is on the other side of the ring or behind him.

    Good LUCk ! Have FUN!
