Holiday cards in the summer?

What do holiday card companies do this time of year?

Party and spend all the money they made when people bought their ridiculous cards with unoriginal, impersonal holiday sayings on them only to send them out to people who don't actually read them and then throw them away.

Birthday cards, sympathy cards, and this is also high season for wedding cards too.  

People are always dying, having babies, and getting married, graduating from high school and other card giving events.  Not as much as Christmas for sure, but I have sure bought a lot of wedding cards this summer.
