  1. You should go to Sicily or Sardinia! They have awesome beaches. I have been to Sicily twice and it's great! You will enjoy it!

  2. I'm Italian! There are lots of places to visit in Italy! Sardinia, Veneto?! I can't speak english very well! Sorry!

  3. I don't know where eaglechick parents went, but such kind of situation is suitable for just very few location, in Italy; October is not the better month for a visit to holyday resort since after September some of them (just a few compared to total offer) are plain dead just because they're so grounded on tourism that after holyday season young people actually may be afflicted by lack of good places for fun: one city which inhabitants nationwide lamented this problem is Giffoni, which, they say, just live after its film-festival.

Small streets are usual in some town, some of them popular, like Maiori, Minori, Alassio, etc, but only if you want to drive by car inside that small cities, which is anyway mostly forbidden.

But 95% of holyday resort, and anyway every big city, does not share this pain; in well known places like Florence, Rome, Rimini, Bellaria, Venice, etc you can easily find whatever you want for 16-17 years old people (even more than in the US, somehow).

Unless you really "need" the sea, I personally suggest Florence; if you can avoid buying too much in downtown shops, Florence is not too expensive, also. Venice is, alas, as beautiful as expensive...

If you would try a high cultural valued (with no problem having fun and good food, anyway :) but underestimated (and so, cheaper) city, Turin is great, and in north of Piedmont (one or two hours by Turin) you can find a variety of countries, mountains, lakes (a visit to Arona, maybe)...

  4. ROME

    FLORENCE

    VENICE

    PADOVA

    MILAN

  5. Five days is too poor. Maybe one week. First, you go to milan, when there are a lot of fligth from US. (Delta, US Airwais, Continental). You can visit Milan in 2 days. The most important place in Milan are Duomo (cathedral) Sforzasco's Castle, Vittorio Emanuele street and so on. Next you can go to Bergamo Alta (2 hours from Milan). It's a beautiful city, with a old city walls, a lot of legend and so on.  Next you can go to Castell'Arquato, near Piacenza, south Milan. It isn't big town, but there is a very grait casle and the restaurant is tastie. (one day).Transport is terrible!

Next Florence is grait. You can go to Uffizzi, and a lot of other museum. (one day)

Next Rome, you can visit Colosseo, Vatican City, Catacombe (old christian tomb) and so on (one or two days)

Last you go to Venezia, when there are St Marco cathedral, Rialto Bridge, Murano and so on. (one or two days)

Maybe you can return in US with Delta from Venezia.

Sorry for my disgustin English, I'm Italian. For other information

linoken@virgilio.it   or in msn messanger linoken@hotmail.it

    Good luck

ps: for hotels there are a lot of grait in milan, bergamo and Venezia, but I don't know in other city.

  6. Believe what people from Italy told you (I'm from Italy). There are many things to do during summer. Wanna have fun and you don't care too much about the sea? Let's go to Rimini (http://www.riminiturismo.it/) or Lignano Sabbie d'Oro (http://www.lignano.com/). There you'll find clubs clubs and again clubs, the sea is ok but not like in the south. On the beach is always music, fitness, dancing and so on.

Wanna visit a city: Rome and Venice are ok (very hot during the summer) and maybe boring for you two.

Wanna find the best sea of your life and have lot of fun? Sardinia is perfect, in particular the north part (http://www.sardegna.net/IT/place_info.ph... but can be expensive.

A good combination can be 2 days in Florence and the rest in Forte dei Marmi (near to Florence, funny and VIP)

    Ciao and have fun!

    Sil from Italy

  7. Sardinia is the right choice

  8. 5 days is too short!  stay in one area and dont spent all your time traveling- Venice and Verona would be excellent and so much to do in both cities- Trains are easy and from milan it's only and hour or 2 .

  9. Torino is a beautiful city. Or Rome... or in Sicily (in the summer is hot and it's near the sea)!!!

  10. Rome

    Venice

    Beaches

    Florence

Palermo (heard there are beautiful churches there)

Places to stay - hostels, good way to meet other travelers your age and for a reasonable price.

Getting around - train if your going between cities.  Don't expect it to be on time, but is usually pretty inexpensive (www.trenitalia.com).

If you need any other info, feel free to email me, I live near Milan and am American.

  11. Not trying to be horrible or anything but my parents went to Italy in October last year and they said there was little there to do for anyone aged 16-21 really mostly little streets dark rooms, very good food apparently and friendly people but not much to do generally. You can take little river boat rides and an advantage is you dont need to drive as the streets are too narrow so u can walk everywhere, they didnt mind it seeing sites etc but thought if my friend and i had went we'd have been bored. While they went to Italy my friend and I (we were both 20 then i am now 21 but it was our first holiday together) went to Menorca which was great there was loads to do, bars, pools, lush beaches, glass bottom boat rides, and a cool boat thing that takes you out with a slide a waterpark lots of different restaurants and sights and villages you can explore too,  u can also take a trip over to Majorca which is just over the water and massive too if u want to see even more! Good luck with where you decide to go and please don't think i'm putting a major down on your holiday its just if you havent booked it then perhaps look for somewhere a bit younger if its your first holiday together.

    Have fun,

    x*x

  12. I have made a list of places I would recommend anyone to visit when coming to Italy.

Depending on what you prefer (fashion, entertainment, art, history, summer vacation, food, trendy) I have made a note, next to each city, where you can have any of the above.

Supposing you begin visiting Italy from the northern part, here is the listing of cities/town I prefer:

    Milan (fashion, entertainment)

    Turin (history, art)

    Portofino, Rapallo (summer, trendy)

Lake Como, Lake Maggiore, Lake Garda (summer)

    Genoa (history, summer)

    Verona (history)

    Venice (history, art)

Parma, Modena, Ravenna, Ferrara (history, food)

    Bologna (history, food, entertainment)

    Florence (history, art, fashion)

Pisa, Lucca, San Gimignano, Arezzo (history, art)

Forte dei Marmi (summer, entertainment, trendy)

    Chianti Region (food)

Perugia, Cortona, Gubbio, Siena , Spoleto (history, food, art)

    Rome (history, art, food)

    Naples, Caserta (history, art, food)

Capri, Ischia, Sorrento coast, Amalfi coast (summer, food, trendy)

Palermo, Syracuse, Agrigento, Trapani (history, art, food)

    Costa Smeralda (summer, entertainment)

Obviously the food is excellent anywhere in Italy, and in any city you walk through history. This is a simple guideline, in order to give you an idea what you can find, depending where you go.

For your hotels, I definitely recommend you to visit the following website: http://www.italyvip.com
