Hollyhead to dublin??

We are planning to take our 5 month old baby to ireland by boat from hollyhead to dublin, does our baby need to have a passport?

People from the UK do not need a passport to enter Ireland. It is recommended though that you take ID such as a passport or your driving licence. I realise a small baby probably has neither of these but it might be a good idea to take its birth certificate just to be on the safe side.

know you can go 2 ireland without a passport, so if i was you i would phone the ports but i really dont think you do, but just 2 make sure phone the port. good luck i am sure it will be ok .

No, you do not need a passport for the ferry only for flights.

It isnt necessary to have a passport to go to Ireland, however some form of personal I.D. would be beneficial.

No you'll be absolutely fine, they rarely even check any ids at the Ferry Ports. My Sister made this journey (Dub-H'Head Rtrn) with her 2 kids (1&4) and had no passport/id for them.

I'm aware that the official stance on this is that every 'person' travelling should have some form of I.D so maybe check with the ferry company before-hand but I think they make allowances for children (esp. that young) so I shouldnt imagine it will be a problem.
