Question:

Home audio configuration question?

About to move from my townhouse to single family home and having issues thinking about my new home audio config.

Currently I have a 42" LCD on a 3 level glass stand. Have my HD cable box, audio receiver, and PS3 on the below shelves.

The new house living room has a corner fireplace that has a shelf above the fireplace with a cable outlet above also.

Here is a pic of the room... got from real estate site, so not the largest.

The wall on the right hand side can't be seen and I would think is atleast another foot or 2 before the other wall.

I'd like to place the stand and TV etc on the wall to the right of the fireplace... but not sure if that would work? There isn't a cable outlet on that wall though (only above the fireplace currently). We have a sectional sofa that can go up the right side wall and come into the middle of room without any problems.

Any thoughts? The receiver and wiring from above fireplace could cause issues.

Thoughts?

  1. I would try fishing the TV cable through the wall to a new position, installing a new outlet, and spackling and painting the hole from the old outlet. The cable fishing could be easy or difficult, depending on what's behind the drywall. Get an electronic stud finder and try to determine where the studs are. You may be able to fish around the studs. If it all seems dauntingly difficult, try calling the cable company first; sometimes they can do this kind of thing easily for a nominal fee. Failing that, an electrician can help you with this.
