  1. The girl who did it for medial reasons probably was doing home and hospital schooling where, after a doctor sends a note to the school saying that due to a medical reason you are unable to attend school, the school sends a teacher to your house to teach you and bring you work (and this is free). If you don't have a medical reason, chances are, the school won't be willing to do this. Maybe check around in your area to see if there are any schools that only do "homeschooling" where you pick up work and see your teacher once a week. I know in our area we do and it is a public school so doesn't cost anything.

ADDED: I'm not sure if depression counts, but possibly. Maybe have your parents schedule an appointment with your school counselor and you all can discuss what your best option is. You could also talk to your doctor about getting a note for that. Yor doctor might also have some suggestions to help you overcome this depression. Good luck!
