  1. If you are using something like connections academy, when my nephews got the computer internet was provided, but my sister put a lock under certain sites that the boys were allowed to go on. But to simply answer - yes you should have internet capabilities on it - however you will have to have an internet connection for it - ie landline, dsl, or cable.

  2. You will have to make the arrangements for your own internet service provider; though, your school will reimburse you for some or all of the cost. Since you are on the internet to post this, more than likely your household is on the net already. You can just use that connection. You will get reimbursed for some or all of your internet expenses depending on your school's policy and how expensive your current internet service is. You can count on the school paying you at least as much as the least expensive service provider in your state.

If you don't already have internet at your home (you may be using a library or friend's system to post), then you will need to make the arrangements for the actual internet connection yourself. Unless you are very rural, you will have the option of dial up or DSL. Dial up will mean that no one can use the phone while you are online or if you have an interrupt service you will find that you will often get knowcked off the net if a call comes in. DSL will allow you to be online and it will not impact your family's phone usage. It is much faster too. It costs more than dial up though which means the internet reimbursement for internet will help but not likely cover the whole amount. I would contact your telephone service provider. They often offer phone/internet service packages. You will likely have independent internet service providers serving your area as well. Make sure that the phone number that you are using with an independent service provider is in your local calling area. This is typically not a problem in big cities, but if you live rural there may not be a service provider in your local calling exchange which means a long-distance phone call every time you get on the internet. That is what we had when we first got on the net. We had to expand our phone plan to include the city where our internet service prover had a connect phone number for. Then it was one flat fee no matter how long we stayed on the net; it was no long distance call anymore.

  3. I would say yes, since it is still a computer, and you might have to do homework online, but I am not completly sure.

I have never done ym homeschooling online.

But you would have to ask them, if not yu could always get it for yourself if you want it really bad.

  4. It's mainly for school, they have a firewall on the system that blocks a lot if not all other access.

  5. Depends on the school. You'll have to ask them.

  6. Most likely, you will have to have internet and will be reimbursed a set amount for the monthly charge.  Most schools discourage using their computers for things other than school-related work, though.
