Question:

Honda Magna Control Panel Problems?

I own a 1983 Honda V45 Magna. The neutral light never turns off. The over-drive light turns on at random time, sometimes even in 1st gear! And just recently, my speedometer just suddenly died, it only reads 0mph. Now I did take it to a mechanic, but he was really no help. Anyone know where all of these wires connect so I may try to fix it myself?

Thanks,

Elso.

  1. the speedo should be a cable on that model, leads down to the front axle.

  2. The neutral and OD light should be controlled by a switch on the end of the shifting drum.  If like most other bikes, you'll find the switch under the cover where the gear shift lever is located.  Sounds like either the switch is loose or damaged and letting the contacts ground out or some of the wires coming from it are worn through and grounding out to the frame.
