Question:

Honeymoon in Barcelona and France?

I'm looking into booking a honeymoon In Barcelona and Nice, France and I have a few questions:

1. I hear that the French Riviera is a little more hospitable to Americans than other parts of France. Is this true?

2. I did a quick search and it seems that there are very few hotels within walking distance of the beach in Barcelona. Has anyone stayed in the outskirts of Barcelona or somewhere near the beach? I'd like to stay near Barcelona if only to be close to the train.

  1. Barcelona is a magnificent city for a visit, honeymoon or otherwise...

here is a good website for hotels :

    www.discount-hotels.es

The main train station is Sants, there are several hotels in that vicinity.

    If you go to

    www.mappy.fr

(they have a page in english) you can find a good city map of Barcelona, and you will see where which streets are, so the addresses of the hotels should be easier for you to visualise.

The main streets near the train station are: .Avenida de Roma, Avenida de Madrid, Calle de Sants,  Calle de Creu Coberta, Calle de Tarragona, Calle de Numancia, Calle Provenza, Calle Aragón, Calle Valencia. And the Avenida Diagonal (the longest avenue in the city) is a bit north of the station.. Then again you coukld go to a hotel more in the center of town. Barcelona has an excellent subway and bus service. Very easy city to travel in.

As to Nice, it is a bit distant from Barcelona...There are many other places worth visiting in France. (If there isn't a SPECIAL reason for choosing Nice), that are closer to the spanish border.

You could go to the Pyrenees. and visit Andorra (great for ski).

Toulouse is a beautiful city, as are Carcassonne, Nîmes, Arles, Montpellier, etc... Of course Nice, Cannes and the Côte d'Azur are also magnificent, all the small towns along the coast are lovely and charming. As to being hospitable...it all depends on your luck...there are wonderful people everywhere...and there are also some real nerds! Hopefully you'll find the first kind!

    :-)

  2. There is a train line that runs along the coast as far as Blanes, unfortunately the coast north of Blanes is much more beautiful but you'd need to rent a car or take a bus..  You can check the train routes out at renfe.es for more details.    The further north you go, the more beautiful it gets but the travel time longer.

  3. Barcelona with out a doubt x*x good luck and hope you enjoy xxxxx
