Hooking up speakers to amp

Question

I have recently upgraded my home stereo amp. The previous home stereo and amp came with 2 speakers, each having 4 wires for 4 speaker output connections on the amp for each speaker. My new amp has 2 speaker output connections for each speaker, + and - . Can I hook up the 4 wire speakers to the 2 wire speaker connections on my new amp and if so, how?
