Hoping to do the LVN course?

Is it better to go State school or Private?? I am going to private college at NCP College of Nursing in South San San Francisco...Its received alot of great reviews. The LVN course is going to cost me just over $25,000...And at State/City Colleges it only cost a couple of thousand, ive done some research and learnt that i would save $18k+....But there is a chance i won't get in to state school because of its lottery system and at NCP it has small classes, great teachers and students...Plus its downtown and i live in Burlingame, it would be half an hour drive/train and bus rides compared to a ten minute drive in a car...But if i work straight after i graduate i can pay off the loan within a year of finishing school...Its a 12month course at NCP and 18months at City College of San Francisco...

SO, What do you think would be best to go to?

  1. It seems as though you have thought this through and prefer to go to NCP. I am currently at Hartnell Community College in the RN program and see no benefit as afr as my education goes to go elsewhere. Till I get my BSN. I a  not sure if you guys have a state test or anything as suck for LVN but we do as I am sure you know, th NCLEX. Now that test is required of all RN's regardless where they got there degree. I feel it a community college degree is good enough for the boards it is good enough for me. Good luck with your decision.

  2. Most vocational nursing programs can be finished in one year which is a great choice for people interested in a fast track to a nursing career.

Licensed vocational nurses can also advance their careers by applying their LVN certificate toward the Registered Nurse bridge program.

There are many private schools for those who do not want to lose time. However, the cost of such nursing programs could be about five times higher than in the community colleges.
