I'm trying to locate a person who is aledgedly in a hospital....I'm not sure which one, but one around the Elizabethton, TN area. I live in Vermont, so kind of hard to figure out all the hospitals, but I've googled up a list.....

Now, i need to satrt calling...but will hospitals confirm if the patient is there?

  1. Paramedic girl is correct.  It is the same in the USA.  You need to be sure of the spelling or they may not give you the information.  If they have requested no listing you will not be given any info.  HIPAA regulations are pretty strict for privacy purposes.  You may find one hospital more strict than another depending on their policy.

Sometimes you can narrow your search by contacting a family member.  They may be able to help.

  2. I am unsure how that works in the US, but in Canada they will confirm if a patient is in hospital... unless the patient asks not to be confirmed.

You will have to have first and last name and call Patient Information. However, they won't release details as to how the patient is or why they are in there.
