House sitting?

So, I was asked to house-sit for 12 days while this old couple goes on vacation. They said they would pay me but I'm not sure how much house-sitting runs (since ive never done it before) So im basically going to live there for 12 days taking care of their 3 pets (cats and dogs i think) and getting their mail .. and so on... What is a reasonable pay for this type of job?

Your pay will be better if you don't refer to them as OLD people.
