Housetraining my ShihPoo?

I've been trying to house train my Shihtzu Poodle, he is almost 8 weeks old. He does so good sometimes, like today he never used the bathroom at all in the house until tonight and than he peed on the floor 3 times and pooped once. The other day he peed 7 times and pooped 3.. Does this mean he is doing good? or does it mean that he is forgetting to use the bathroom outside if he went inside so many times tonight. Does he still know he is suppose to use it outside? Is there any tips on how to make training him easier?

Crate training!!!

If he's out of his crate, close off all rooms and keep a watchful eye on him. If he starts sniffing around take him outside immediately.

Take him outside every hour or so and say "potty" (or something) the moment he does his business and praise him. Then he will learn to do his business when you say the command.

Also be conscious of how often your feeding your dog. If you feed him before you go to bed, then he's going to p**p that evening.

A puppy at 8 weeks old should not be expected to be house trained...it takes several months.

at 8 weeks, you are just begining with the potty training. it can take six months or more before a dog is fully housetrained. be sure to take him out first thing in the a.m., after eating, after playing, after napping, etc. crate him when you can't watch him. just be patient, it will get easier, even if you think it's not. my pup is 7 months old, and if i leave the house and leave her with my kids to watch, she will surely p**p in the floor, lol. but for the most part, she is housebroken. just be patient. and don't yell and scream or rub her nose in it. good luck.
