Question:

How Do I Remove A Smell?

My moms boyfriend gave me a leather couch and I think his dog peed on it in the same spot several times. I can not remove the cushions or lift the arm rests up to see where the smell is coming from. Any ideas on how to remove the smell and/or prevent it from emanating from the area?

  1. Steam clean, let dry, and then Febreeze

  2. I would try an enzyme based cleaner like NATURES MIRACLE an enzyme based spray that takes away pet urine odors... It's available at most pet/supply stores.. Just read the label and see if it's safe for leather furniture... I would also vacuum the sofa and if it's shiny leather NOT suede try cleaning it with some PLEDGE>.. I clean houses and it works nicely.... It says it's safe for leather on the can!    You could also try some lysol...

    Good luck

  3. Wipe the counch down with warm water and with a small amount of vinegar in it. Dry the leather right away and then wipe over with just warm water. Dry the couch and spray lysol on the couch. Lysol sprayed straight on leather doesn't harm it and removed the smell. We have tested it on leather coats from fires and it works great.

  4. boy that sound tough, i can smell it from here. Take it to a proffesional who deals with these issues and pay more money than the sofa is worth or drench it with fairy liquid for a month then rinse it then sell it if the smell remains.

me, naa , give it away free. oowwoh!

  5. 1] get some unscented Febreeze, and spray thoroughly.

2] take mattress off frame, and air outside for a while [ in sunny weather ] for 1 - 2 days

3] spray the back of mattress too

4] wash all the bedding [ sheets, blankets, spread or comforter ], too - it will have absorbed the bleach odor

5] burn some lightly scented or unscented candles in your room to remove odors.
