How To Courier A Surfboard Internationally?

Question

I want to courier a surfboard from Southern California to North East Scotland. Is it possible? is it worth it? Who would do international courier service for a large item?

When I flew to  the Solomons I took my bright new board. Don't do that...It really hurts when it gets there in two pieces. take your oldest crappiest board, have fun and give it away before coming home. (save $$ on transport) Normally Id recommend buying a secondhand board when you get there but I doubt there are many used boards in Scotland (and its cold..really cold)
