How To Extend IR Repeater?

I have A Wired IR Repeater The Hub Would be in my room and the cord with the sensor would go to the basement but the cord with the sensor is to short what could i buy to extend it?

  1. Most IR repeaters are just sending a DC signal, and as such they have only 2 wires. I assume that you plug the repeater sensor in to the receiver sensor. Any cable that is mechanically compatible should work. I have seen ones that are 2.5mm but some are 3.5mm both look like a standard headphone plug. Take it to radio shack and see what cables fit. You may run into to a lack of voltage over a long cable run.
