Question:

How Will Eye Patches Work?

Do you just wear them and close the other lazy eye? What if somebody is going to make fun of you at school or on public? Can't you just wear them on the weekends at home when nobody see's you? How will my right eye not go to the left when I look straight?

  1. i recommend going to an optometrist.

he is a professional and would know what would be best for you.

  2. when you patch the good eye (the "non-lazy eye"), it forces the "lazy eye" to do some work.  doing some detailed activities when your good eye is patched, helps stimulate the visual pathway of the "lazy eye".  The idea is to get your lazy eye stronger and eventually you will be able to use the better together.  You should be followed by your optometrist to know how often and for how long you need to to patch..and so he/she can monitor improvements in your vision.

as far as people making fun of you...if they want to make fun of you, they will find something, be it your clothes, your hairstyle, or your eye patch.  isn't better vision for the rest of your life more important than a few people making fun of you?

  3. My cousin, who is 5, has to wear them.  What the patch does is it forces your bad eye to work harder and correct itself.  If you stick to it, the method really does work.
