I make beans about once a week. Ill usually make red, black, lima, or black-eye.

Just wondering if anyone has any opinions on beans besides these? I really would like to try another kind...

  1. Try lentils and split peas.

Boil them for the appropriate length of time with broth and/or add a mixture of sauteed onions, garlic, ginger or whatever spices that you like after they are don.

  2. I tried soybeans because they are supposed to have one of the highest grams of protein in beans. They taste like a cross between kidney and lima beans to me

I like vegetarian baked beans. I like lentils too, especially lentil soup or rice pilaf with lentils.

I would like to try Aduki or Adzuki beans, you should try them too.

  3. chickpeas chickpeas chickpeas!!! (Also called garbonzo beans)

THEY ARE SO GOOD! And good for you.

    here's my heavenly recipe:

mix in a few chunks of avocado, pour a little v8 tomatoe juice, add garlic and onion.

sooooooooo good. also, chickpeas are great with any kind of fruit. my favorite is papayaaaa

  4. Sure try pinto beans, white navy beans (they are the beans in pork and beans, of course they taste different plain but they are good). Pigeon peas are good maybe they are not exactly a bean, but still, lol.

  5. I really like to make a chic pea cold salad...its easy especially when I am in a rush... chic peas, corn, red onion, and use a lil italian dressing and some grated cheese.. simple yet tastes great!

  6. I love pinto beans.  I make them with cumin, garlic, chili powder and onion for a Mexican flavor.  Mmm, beans...
