When Englsih speakers pronounce 'thing' or 'path' do their tongues touch their upper tooth?

When they pronounce 'sing' or 'pass' does it touch nothing?

Will it sound funny if somebody says 'Sank you very much, thir'?

  1. correct the answers to your questions are yes yes and yes

  2. correct, correct and hehehe yep

  3. the s sound in sing and pass sounds like a snake hiss...practice hissing...sssssssssssssssing...passsssss... :D so you pronounce it with your teeth together and your tongue behind them.

the th sound is made with the tongue touching the upper front teeth.

indeed it would sound funny! hope this helps!

  4. The "th" sound is created by taking the tip of your tongue and placing it right behind your front two teeth. When you add air to it, you get a the sound like the "th" in "teeth", where it's just air passing by it. When you add voice to it, you get the "th" sound as in "the"... where there's some vibration to it and you can hear it more.

The "s" sound is created by having the tip of your tongue relaxed by your bottom front teeth. The back of your tongue may raise naturally a little bit. When air passes through, you get the "s" sound as in "hiss".

It would sound funny if somebody were to say, "Sank you very much, thir" because it doesn't really make sense.

  5. "th" is said by putting the tip of your tongue between your upper front teeth and lower ones.

    yes

lol yes...but as a non-native i sometimes find it hard to keep saying th and s correctly.

  6. 'Th' sound is best made by poking your tongue out of your mouth to about 1cm and lightly placing both rows of your teeth on either side. The 's' sound can be done by placing it behind your top row of teeth (but not touching it). Both these consonants require you to breath out. Funny how ive never thought about how i actually make the sound, hah.

    thanks

  7. when i say 'th' my tongue goes in between my top and bottom teeth

when i say 's' my teeth go together and i don't use my tongue

and if you said 'sank you very much, thir'

    people would think you're retarded

  8. Hehe I tried pronouncing the words.  I never pay attention to how I pronounce things in English.
