  1. They have similar crystal structures, but not identical.  


  2. They are both minerals...

    They don't hav the same chemical make up (calcite is calcium carbonte (CaCO3) and halite is sodium chloride (NaCl)).

    They don't have the same crystal structure (halite is cubic and calcite is rhombehedral).

    BUT...the molecular structure is similar with calcite having a structure derivative of sodium chloride (halite), where the triangular carbonate group (CO3) replaces the spherical chloride and the calcium (Ca) replaces the sodium (Na).
