  1. 48 constellations were named in ancient times by the Greeks. Since then, one of the ancient constellations, Argo Navis, was split into three, making 50 constellations; astronomers in the 16th, 17th and 18th Centuries made up a lot of new ones, and at the end of the 19th Century the International Astronomical Union adopted 38 of these to make the current 88 constellations. There have been no new ones since then.

  2. There are no new constellations forming, so they have all been named already. There are 88 constellations.

  3. They are NOT named today , they have ALREADY been named in Ancient times
