  1. msot of them were named LONG LONG ago by ancient man.... when we started using them for maps, the need to name them became even more important.....

generally, any body in space discovered for the first time, grants the discoverer to choose the name.

  2. Typically, some astronomer published a star catalog, and other people either used the names or didn't.  The International Astronomical Union is currently the body that decides.  So publishing a star catalog with the names you sold isn't likely to do it.

Movie stars are named by their parents.  But as adults, they can change their names.

  3. Only the ones that are easily visible with the naked eye really have names, and those are traditional.  You're boyfriend did NOT name one after you, he wasted his money.

Most stars don't really have names and are referred to by a number.

Name designation is done by the International Astronomical Union.

  4. sometimes on what system are they in..

    on whom the discoverer is...

    hope it helps!
