  1. it dependes on where you are. like say you at pipe, yah its going to be judged by best barrel.

but if your at a place like treseles its going to be judged by turns, floaters, style, bottom turns, and all that type of stuff

  2. nice barrel? you mean barrels are judged by the depth of position. Yes, I think they are the highest point scoring maneuver in contest surfing.

Bobby Martinez got a perfect 10 this morning in South Africa because everyone thought it was a closeout and it turned into a perfect barrel. Shaun Thompson (inventor of the thruster) said it was the best barrel he had ever seen at Jbay.

Functional moves like floaters and cutbacks aren't scored so much. ASP judges are looking for deep open face carves. But they are also looking for a variety of maneuvers, throwing the fins/tail out, airs, etc. Airs aren't so common in comps because they are risky, if you don't land it, you don't get a score for it. Same with barrels, if you don't come out, no score.

  3. mhmm barrels are good, but you can get an even higher scare if you do tricks

like manuevers and airs, grabs etc.

that's should get you a pretty solid score

or at least makee ur heat

but make sure you land them

    good luck!

    hope I helped
