  1. Keep your house clean and throw out all left over food.

  2. Wash your dishes every day.  Do not leave food out.  Wrap up your leftovers and put them in the refrigerator.  Do not buy canned food for your pets and leave it laying out for an extended period of time.  Maggots are caused by flies laying eggs in food, The maggots are fly larvae.

In the instance of maggots being in the garbage, I would try to wrap all leftover foods that I was throwing away in those plastic grocery bags, and tie it really tight, maybe even use two bags, before I throw it away in the garbage bag.  Also the garbage bags you are using are probably getting holes in them before garbage pickup day.  That' show the flies are getting in the bags.

Maybe you could just keep the leftover food slop in a large butter dish container, or old coffee can, in the fridge until garbage collection day, then throw it out on the day they pick up.

You should also wash out your garbage cans after pickup.  You can use a water hose and squirt some dishwashing liquid in there, fill them up partially and get something like an old mop to swish it all around the insides of the garbage can.

  3. keep your house clean. the day the garbage man comes to get it u should wash out the garbage can with bleach maybe that would help or pine sol just make sure if u put food in the garbage put it in a seperate bag like  a walmart bag tie it up then put it in the garbage.

  4. The can likely has some rotten meat in or on it.  Have your son fill the can up with water with a little liquid soap.  Let it soak for an hour, rinse, and let it dry thoroughly.  Afterwards, just make sure the lid is on the can tightly so flies cannot get inside and lay their eggs (maggots are fly larvae).

  5. in my garbage cans i used to have this problem..

just shave soap off a bar of soap

and place where you are getting the problem

this works best if you shave some or spray some

into bags every time you change the liner in your can.

    also smells Good!

    Good Luck!
