  3. I think you are a very environmental concerned person in this polluted world. You have done the basic Reduce, Recycle, and Reuse of three human virtual. If every one in this world can put efforts like yours, the dream of green living will come true shortly or eventually. I wish you could try to carpool to work or taking more buses instead of driving. If it is possible, your goal of more green is possibly reached.

  4. Checkout Shaklee Clean Starter Kit for all you green needs it is the perfect way to check out many different products. Check it out.

  5. For around the home:

Make sure your windows are covered and sealed (helps keep warmth in, in the winter) as well as in the summer, keep the thermostat two degrees higher, and in the winter two degrees lower (this saves money, too!). Try to flush less often, you know the phrase ("if it's yellow, keep it mellow. if it's brown, flush it down.")

    Switch to fluorescent light bulbs!

Try to walk/bike when you can.

Fix leaky facets. And buy recycled things, too! You'd be surprised as to how similar they are to non-recycled things.

    This website has more, too:

As well as weather channel and HGTV!

    :D. Good luck!

  6. You do not tell anyone whether your carbon footprint involves use of a lot of energy to heat or cool your living space, or your water heating. And then we do not know whether you live in a high rise, a suburban back split, or a farm house, a mountain cottage.

We do not know whether you are in charge of a postage stamp lot, or a big ranch. So, we do not readily envision what your opportunities may be.

  11. Don't drink bottled water - get a water purifier. Do you know Americans go through BILLIONS of water bottles every year, and that there is an island in the Pacific made of plastic? Recycling plastic bottles is not enough. It puts more pollution in the air.

Also, when you throw items out, question first if you can recycle components of it. Oops, I forgot to eat that yogurt before it expired. I don't throw out the full container, I toss the yogurt itself, then rinse and recycle the container. Those little things help! Also, try to reuse things like Ziploc bags several times. If you clean/rinse them, you can do so. If I don't like a skin cream I bought, I give it to a friend or I throw out the goop, then clean and recycle the jar. I respect that you are making the effort. I'm trying, bit by bit, to do more too. Also, walking and biking are great, and good for you too.

Ooh, one more thing. If you get food to go, make sure it's from places that use biodegradable wrapping. I got a salad at Costco's food court last week that came in a super-thick plastic shell that will probably be on the planet hundreds of years. I won't buy that salad again. I don't eat at McDonald's anymore but in the 80s they used styrofoam containers for their burgers. Consumer complaints made them stop. Also, CDs used to come in big cardboard containers about 15 inches long so they'd be harder to steal, but consumer complaints about wastefulness forced them to stop that. We can make a difference!

  13. -Did you switch your lightbulbs? I know everyone will say that, but think about it, you have them on ALOT. So it's something that should be efficient.

-Buy organic clothing, or clothing made from recycled material, or atleast no weird materials like polyester or something. Or even buy used clothing, that's even better.

-Grow some of your own foods! Maybe start like a herb garden or something, it depends if you're a cooker or not.

-Remember to reduce and reuse to, so instead of just recycling used toliet paper rolls, you could reuse them. Do you know any friends who have rabbits, or hamster, or gerbils? They like things to chew on like that, so that'd be great. Or maybe a local animal shelter would want them.

-Buy local, and organic! Like at a farmer's market, or maybe you have a saturday market or open air market by you?

    -Plant some trees!

-Organize some fundraisers or tree planting parties or street clean ups, that's the best way to feel like your're doing something.

Gahh hope some of these are a little new sounding to you! Good luck!

  14. Well, i suppose you can go all electric on your car

convert your house to solar panels for self created power

    stop barbequing

    stop smoking\

stop newspaper subscriptions and go all electronic online

bio-degradeable products not tested on baby bunnies

    etc, etc, etc.

lots of things you can do, the BIG question is, how ticked off will you be later on down the road when you find out that this "green movement" has been lying to everyone regarding global warming and such. Will you be mad that you literally turned your live upside down for a cause that was based on lies ?

I'm an old conservative, I didn't mind the pollution awareness commercials, turning lights off in a room not in use, recycling, composting instead of buying fertilizer, etc. But over decades of this 'awareness' and 'doing our part' we changed things. Air and water quality has gotten much better. Now days even the worse water in America on tap is way better than 3rd world countries. But NEVER once was it necessary to hype it, or lie, or push some program or policy on the nation. Not once did it require the government to get involved and establish bad policy or favor corn farmers, or cause the turmoil of high food prices like todays movement has.

I draw the line on interfering with other people's lives and turning it upside down unless I can actually prove what i'm talking about. To date, there have been way too many lies regarding global warming and demonizing of those with proof that it isn't happening.

I'd settle for the right to sue all the companies for raising my cost of living 20 years from now when GW is proven to be a hoax.

  15. I was going to suggest Hemp also, but that suggestion was already made. Take showers, because they use less water; I know, most people take showers today; not in my day! We wasted water with baths and washed the tub after every bath!

They have shower-heads that use less water but feel the same to users! And using glercerin soap is better for your body and the environment.

When washing dishes, wash them by hand; make soap in a bowl and wash them all. Then use a sprayer washer that turns off as you release the handle! And when you are waiting for the water to get hot, use a milk carton or water jug to fill-up the container, until the water is hot. I use the water to nurture my plants. I also have a bucket that catches rain-water and as it goes down, I fill it up with the sink water, or, I just water my plants, my babies.

Here is a big one: Go to the electrical unit in your closet or wherever it is and turn the hot water unit to off! Twenty minutes befor you do shower, turn it on. This has cut my elec. bill way down! Perhaps leave the door open so you remember to turn it off again. I am a single man and twenty minutes is pretty much good for the entire day; and washing dishes!

Cook only what will be eaten in the moment! Take your carrot bottoms and green- inion bottoms and put a little water in a bowl so the start of roots will grow. After just three days, regardless if roots have started, plant them in your garden or in a pot on the balcony as I do! Keep them moist with a little water two to three times daily with the bucket of water you save! Cut them just about and inch which is enough.

Plan your trips so you are organized to do your chores/duties in a fluid motion. Do not speed up when taking off and do not wait until near the stop light/sight to break hard. Ease into it from much farther away.

I know you have wisdom: Just look deeply at everything that you do throughout the day.

I appreciate this question and I appreciate you and what you are desiring to do better.
