There aren't any centers where I live that take glass. Any ideas of what I can do? We have mainly beer bottles and baby food jars.

  1. baby food jars make excellent storage for hardware items (nails, screws, bolts) or spices, or for making salad dressing in...just use your imagination.

you can re-use the beer bottles for your own home brews..you'll just need to buy a capper and the additional items for brewing, but then you'll have your very onw beer and you can keep using the same bottles, over, and over, and over...

they're really quite simple and delicious.

    best of luck!

  2. Glass is filling up landfill, but the energy cost to recycle glass are as great as making glass out of sand. If we have to transport glass any distance it becomes impractical to recycle it.

It is very energy efficient to reuse glass. But we have nobody even trying to do that any longer.

Get your city to set aside a place to pile up glass, and maybe, some day someone will find a good use for it.

  3. The problem is that there is no demand for it.

It is costly and most bottling companies want either clear glass or a consistent color.

With so many different colors of glass bottles you would not get either of these by recycling.

    Sad but true.
