Question:

How can I speak more smoothly?

I tend to be hesitant in my speech because I suck at finding the right words at that moment. Maybe everyone's like that or maybe it's just me. I wish I could talk like I write! It takes me a second or two to search for the right words, although I do have an extensive vocabulary. I just can't think up something right away.

  1. thinking before you speak is not a downfall.  pride yourself on the fact that you consider the impact of your words before just pouring them out for anyone to hear.  trying to take back words you've said is like trying to put toothpaste back in a tube.  it's pretty much impossible.

  2. i dont no, i never have that problem... i just let the words flow... you could try that... just dont think to hard... just talk... as long as it's not insulting.

  3. yeah. that happens to me 24/7. theres just nothing to say. and then instantly, someone else buts in and steals the conversation. i hate it and i cant stand it. the only thing i can say that actually has helped me a little bit is grab hold of every opportunity at talking that you can. even if you can say something small/stupid/unimportant, say it. even if no one cares, you'll feel better knowing that you said something. as you do that more, then you'll gain confidence and add more things to conversations. i think its more of a practice thing than anything else.

  4. That's a good quality, actually! Think about it, would you rather be listening to a person who talks fast or slow? It's more comfortable slow, unless they have ADHD and have little patience.

  5. I would take my time to think before responding immediately.  Try to think in simple short sentences and getting across one idea at a time.
