Question:

How can I start an organization?

Once a month I want to post locations all over the nation where

people can go and visit with the children or our elders to keep their spirits up. I've tried emailing a few hospitals to see how I can go about doing this, but they don't reply and when I call they don't return my calls. Any idea on how I can get it started?

  1. Organizations do their own training and screening of volunteers who are going to have one-on-one contact with children or elders. These volunteers must go through criminal background checks and extensive interviews, as well as training on how to interact with these populations.

These organizations already have online recruitment tools to find volunteers. For the USA, they use VolunteerMatch (http://www.volunteermatch.org), Idealist (http://www.idealist.org), Change.org (http://www.change.org) and CraigsList (http://www.craigslist.com), among others. Individual local volunteer centers also have these kinds of listings, and you find these via the Points of Light Foundation web site (http://www.pointsoflight.org/centers/).

These organizations would welcome your participation in their existing programs. It would be a good idea if you yourself would gain experience as a volunteer with children or the elderly through one of these programs, so you have a better idea of what such programs entail.

  2. Do you have any preferences of starting an organization?

  3. Try going in, in person so the b******s can't ignore your for one.  It's like trying to contact your supposed "representative" in the government.  They ignore you.

  4. sleeping wit plp

  5. Contact churches

    Visit some Hospitals fdirect

    See Volunteers in hospitals.

    Contact like groups online?

Best bet Volunteer in Hospital & get feedback direct.

    & contact

CHANGE 4 HEALTH NOW.org with your idea.

    Theyll listen

  6. Contact the United Way volunteer bureau in the cities you want to list.   They can tell you organizations in their community that offer opportunities for this type volunteering.  They can not and will not give you names of individual people because that would violate the person's right to privacy.     You can also do a web search for "senior ctizens programs" and the city name or Youth programs and the city name at somewhere like www/ altavista.com/web/adv   Try also searching for family shelters which would be places that would have homeless kids staying there.   Most places want to screen volunteers to be sure their intentions are good vs preying on the ppl and that theu are emotionally stable. Most also want to offer some sort of volunteer training or orientation so people do help and don't do more harm than good which you can probably understand

  7. wow, thats a tough one, I'd get in touch with someone who's started an organization and ask them for some pointers, hopefully someone here knows something about it and can help, best of luck with that, it sounds like a nice idea :)
