How can you overcome jealousy?

well, I sometimes get slightly jealous over silly things.

e.g the guy i like pays attention to another girl,

some other ***** has a designer bag which i want,

etc of different things.

I just wanna know how to overcome jealousy in general?

You can't, it will consume your mind and you will slowly fade away into insanity.

jealousy is totally normal. In a relationship it goes away with time and trust. Sometimes it can take years, in this case your jealousy is just bc you have fear of losing something you have or something that you really want...jealousy can also be linked to lack of self confidence. Which is over come when you are finally comfortable being you, this also takes time.

As far as being jealous of bags and things, you just want more out of life. Make things happen for yourself, don't waste time lusting. If you see something you want work to get it.

Also try to keep in mind that you could always be worse off.

my suggestion is for you to look down, theres a lot of people that cant even sleep with their stomach full. to even care about a designer bag more than to care about those people is inhuman. be thankful with what you have, thats how you overcome jealousy.

I'd agree with Philip S

Next time this happens, I'd try just stopping and thinking about something in your life that makes you happy - be it a really nice top or a happy memory to distract yourself from what you're feeling jealous of.

(You might need to do it a few times before u actually start feeling different - it takes a while for your emotions to adjust)

Also these things that bug you, do u still want them so bad now even though it was a little while ago? I find when I really want something like a piercing when my friend gets one that I want it real bad at first...but then it doesn't feel like such a big deal after a while.
