How dangerous is Pericarditis?

My friend was hospitalized with this last night and i am really scared for her! We have been best friends for like 6 years and i can't stand to think about her being sick and in the hospital! Please give advise or experiences please!

PS: I am not a nurse yet i am only 17!

There are cases of pericarditis that require emergency surgery. Most need a little ibuprofen. The devil's in the details. In a young and previously healthy person, I'd bet she'll have a pretty minor case of the mild sort that's often caused by a virus and she'll be back at home and school in a day or two.
