How did she edit this picture??

i just downloaded gimp and i was wondering how this girl got her photo to look like this?? step by step instructions would be great too cuz im pretty new to the editing stuff. thanks!!

She took the picture in black and white. Then she opened it in photobucket and edited it. You can add color where you want it. Play around with it

I have been using photoshop, I haven't used gimp before but from other people I see that gimp can do what photoshop can also do at a point, and in fact the pic you showed doesn't look that hard...

- Well If your photo is not gray, you will first have to make your pic gray scale, I'm sure gimp has some hue, saturation options that you can change, you can probably make your pic gray from there, or if you find a gray scale option somewhere you can use that too also,

- The second thing that noticeable is the pink gradient you will have to use pink to transparent gradient,

- Some flowers made with a flower shaped brush by the bottom right corner, maybe opacity values of the brush had been decreased a bit,

- On another layer over the flower layer typing tool used and it has a drop shadow effect on it shadow is dark pink,

- And the last thing is that flash thing probably made with a brush again which looks like a sparkle and it has a outer glow effect, the glow is pink and the brush is white

You can keep every object that you added the photo on separate layers so you wouldn't change the actual photo and can make the changes a lot easier.
