How did you decide to gamble the way you do?

I have friends that will spend hours in a casino playing table games or slots and enjoy it. I have another friend who'll bet on any sporting event out there. (yes, even Olympic speed skating) He'll sit in front of a tv for hours watching sporting events he has wagers on.

Personally, I just spend $15-$20 a week on the lottery. I'm more interested in the outcome than the process. I have fun thinking "What if..." and there is a moment of excitement as I check the numbers. But then i move on.

Why do you gamble the way you do?

  1. It's called "the action". Compulsive gamblers eventually are more interested in "the action" than in the outcome.

  2. I gamble for a living, its my job.

I bet on Professional Football as well as the NCAA. You have a HUGE edge over the house if you put enough time and effort into it. I usually spend upwards of 60hrs a week studying the games before I place my bet on 1-2 games that week. The money I make betting football more then supports my lifestyle.

Its easy to gamble when you know you have the advantage. Gambling in the casino on the table games or slots still leaves the house with a huge advanhtage.

  3. Whatever works for you.

  4. Well I was a pro gambler for 1 year and decided to quit as it was too stressful. I never really got much enjoyment out of it (no that i didn't enjoy it either) It was more of a financial gain.

To the people that enjoy it instead of lotto are risk prone people and like to see there investment taking ups and downs. You will find that these people will gamble without even caring about the outcome but for the love and thrill of winning.

  5. Blackjack is my main poison.  My grandfather plays a lot of blackjack and he taught me how to play and we go to the casino together on occasion.

I also had a friend/co-worker who makes heavy sports bets during baseball and football season, and he's gotten me involved too.  Although I play more blackjack, I think I enjoy sports betting more as it seems your dollar gets stretched longer.

I did have a girlfriend who was really into craps, and since then I've started to wander over to the craps table from time to time.

So I guess to answer your question, I'm kind of a social gambler.  I like to gamble with friends and family.

  6. i enjoy sports betting. I mostly bet online at linesmaker.com. I am not fanatical or anything but I like betting anywhere from $20-$50 on a few NFL or college football games every week. Nothing serious but it adds some excitement to when watching on TV.

  7. on what ever i enjoy + lotto of course
