I am pretty idiotic when it comes to computers. How do I make a backup disk and will this backup save everything on my computer--all of my documents and photos etc?

Also, are there things I should do to my computer every now and then? someone said once that I should defrag it but I don't even know what that means. any help would be great. I have a laptop and haven't done anything for a year.

thanks for your help!

  1. Just copy everything from your computer to a DVD or an external drive.  To do this go to my computer and drag the C drive to your DVD or external drive.

  2. Try going to a local computer store (Office Max, Staples, Best Buy, etc...) and get a Flash Drive (1gb - 4gb) or an External Hard Drive (40gb - 500gb) depending on how many files you are backing up.

  3. I will answer Q.2  To defrag, go to START>ALL PROGRAMS>ACCESSORIES>SYSTEM TOOLS>DISC CLEAN UP. After disc clean up ends, you can follow the same commands fromSTART.............DEFRAGMENT (DEFRAG). This will speed up your computer.
