I have recieved threatening messages via myspace from someone I don't know. I've reported it to myspace. I am curious whether or not if there are legal avenues to pursue (like suing or prosecuting it as a criminal offense.)

  1. If you truly are concerned by the threats you should report them to the police.  It's nothing to call 911 about-- simply call your local police department's main line and let them know what's going on.

Be sure to keep those messages.  If the person deletes their account, the message will no longer be viewable in your inbox-- so be sure to take a screen shot of the messages (it's better than just saving them into a word document, because if you saved them in a word document you cannot prove you didn't change the contents of the message.)

You should never have to feel threatened like you do right now.  If you're incredibly uncomfortable and/or the threats persist, I definitely suggest contacting your local police department-- they'll take it from there.

    Best Wishes!  Stay safe.
