How do I make a website??

I really want to start my own website. Me and my friend want to make a fan site for our favorite band. How do we do that?

You can use free HTML templates with free HTML editors that can be found easily with google searches.  You don't have to be a programmer to run a website!  Check http://directorix.net/articles.html for a guide to set up some easy websites.

Get a Domain Name First.

Find a hosting company and join them.

Transfer your domain name through the DNS to your new Hosting company.

Build your website in Dreamweaver then upload it through FTP to your HOST.

Blogging systems might be the easiest approach to a fan website.  You can post news items, photos, videos.  There are calendar tools, etc..  You can get some good flexibility with Wordpress.

There are 2 choices for using wordpress.  You might want to try out their free service at wordpress.com.  This has some limits on customizing.  Your other choice is to install the wordpress system on your own hosting service.  This isn't as hard as it sounds.  

I'm including a link to a site that shows all the installation steps in detail for installing wordpress on hosting from 1and1.com.  That way you can see if doing it yourself might work for you.
