Question:

How do I relieve stress?

I'm starting college really shortly and i can't even focus. I'm confident but man I am far of being intelligent. Yes even being a good guy, I admit I'm stupid and may never succeed. I barely passed last semester but did with a few C's. I had a compression check since I was a young pup and I think that's what makes me struggle with hands on and kinetic work. My friend suggest I smoke a cigar and relax. He says it's good for me (Way healthier than a cigarette) and is actually good for my lung capacity.

Just like my grandfather I'm money concerned and not laid back. Why can't I be more calm? I have so much stress building up in me and I have a bad feeling I'll die at a young age due to it. Not to mention I eat a lot of fast food and I can't resist eating.

Alright thanks for the help.

  1. Your really down on yourself. You must have some intelligence going for you.Your in college,& doing the best you can.Everyone excels in different areas.Today's executives/professionals require that education & degree which opens doors to better paying jobs,so hang in there & try to be good to yourself.Try to eat better, exercise regularly(endorphins are released which increases our feeling of self worth),then study a bit more & you may find your a better student than last year.About the cigars..Ant tobacco is bad for our lungs, etc.,so I'd say stay away from that & booze. It's liquid courage that can create physical & mental problems for you.I have an alcaholic in my life that has been sober for 28 years, but i8t was a long, nasty ride getting to this point.

  2. Sounds like the core of your stress lies in your past.  I too live a stressful lifestyle, I was raised that way and its really hard to change.  not laid back sounds like your the opposite of relaxed.

Also, being hard on yourself, stressful. to me, depression is pretty much anger and aggression pointed inward. and you say you admit your stupid and may never succeed but that's not confidence, your confidence is you knowing you can do something you don't know you can do. Faith if you will. in yourself.

  3. Smoking will only increase your stress it will be worse when you become grossly addicted.

When I was in college what helped me is to get there a little bit early and walk around and enjoy the scene a bit. I also took time between classes to walk a bit , relax a little, I even made it a point to take some time out by myself instead of being a part of the gab. If there is a gym there work out a bit.

These things helped me and made my time at college much more enjoyable.

  4. You know my son see's a counselor for anxiety . She gave him so Ideas for relaxing . She said walking out side for 10 Min's helps many relax especially depressed people. Reading a good book is another relaxing  thing to do it takes you away from the real world for a bit. Listening to music that you love and just laying down and closing your eyes relaxes you too.  I hoped this helped a bit.  Sorry your so stressed my friend. Just do your best and know you giving it your all. You should be proud of your self for trying to better your life by going to collage.  Take care my friend (( HUGS)) . Take it one day at a time.

Here for you . Love your friend Sug xx

  5. firstly, cigar or ciagerette...both are bad for your lungs. its neevr "good". secondly, to relieve stress, just take time out dude...hang out...see places, leanr music, leanr a new language, learn to dance, whatever u may enjoy apart from your regular academics...please dont be hesitant to explore the opportunities and pursue them....good luck!!

  6. Don't smoke cigars to help you relax.  If you're worried about school, colleges have amazing resources.  If you're writing papers, check out the college's writing center (every college has one).  They'll edit your papers and help you get your best grade on them.  Join discussion groups, study groups, find someone in the library studying the same thing you are.  Colleges want you to succeed...just remember to take advantage of your resources.  Talk to your teachers and professors, they have office hours and are more than happy to talk to you about your course work.
