Question:

How do I stop lying habitually?

It's a problem that I encounter just about everyday. If someone pulls a fast one, and asks me a question(I'm anxious in social situations) I'll reply, regardless of it's truth. It's insane. I open my mouth to say something and I'll have no intention of lying, but the next thing I know the words are out of my mouth, and I have said something that is completely false.

  1. I had the same exact problem! It's called compulsive lying - I used to lie about things a lot because my mother would have a fat lie instead of the truth >.>

What you need to do - which is extremely hard for me, is to during you're story to say - OH WAIT. I mean that uh, that was something else. Then try to concentrate and say "HMM. I'M THINKING" then try to say the truth. It would be more progressive of the truth over the time. It may still be a bit of lying, may loose people, but it makes you feel better in the long shot!

  2. just stop.

  3. take a deep breath.

and Think hard about what you want to say.

And try and make sure its the truth.
