How do i figure out tax?

im gonna buy this curly iron that cost bout 20 dollars but i wanna make sure i bring enough money for tax how do i figureout home much the TAX would be!?

well mostly its 7 cents a dollar down nhere to add 7 cents for each dollar and bring maybe 2 dollars extra just incase to be safe good luck. :)

Sales tax is different in different states, and sometimes in different areas in the same state.  Without knowing where you are buying it, nobody can tell you.  But if you take along an extra $2 you should be covered wherever you are, it'll be less than that.

Well, first you would need to know your state tax rate (it's 7.75% here in Illinois).  If you have no idea, look it up, or just estimate 10% tax (which is high for most states, but better to have too much cash than not enough).

Then you multiply the tax rate times the price, and that number is the amount of tax for the item.  Add that amount to the price, and that's what you end up paying.

So here, it would be $20 + ($20 x 0.0775) for a $20 item.
