How do i quit my job?

i've been working a sales job, but i am really unhappy and i cant bear going in tomorrow, or ever again for that matter! I will be going back to college in september, so i'm not worried about another job. The thing is, everyone i work with is really nice but the company itself, is a little dodgy! I sell insurance for mobile phones, well we claim it is insurance but it really is a warranty. check out the website, www.guardianmp3.co.uk. basically, the sales advisors, including myself claim that this insurance package that we offer rivals all the best insurance policies but for half the price! but in fact, it is a warranty. we are told to tell customers lots of lie's to sell the policy. but how do i quit? should i take the company down? help!

Don't "take the company down". Most jobs I've had have been pretty easygoing about my leaving (I'm in academia), but would like a little early notice. It's good etiquette.

You write what's called a resignation letter and give it to personnel, you may be required to work a notice period but this just means you'll lose the wages for that period if you don't.

P.s I suggest you refrain from saying anymore about the company and using the word claim in a third party (colegue) anymore as you may end up sacked instead. Especially when you post their web site address

OMG get a pair will you is this the way you are going to go through life, man you will get eaten alive,just tell them you are leaving,and if they ask why, just say why would you think and then walk and then go to consumer affairs and let them know whats going on and for God sake grow up,sorry a bit harsh I know,but COME ON.

employers are really useful to have on your side - hate to say it but 2 weeks notice.

quit and keep as many useful friends as possible to help you restart your career on the other side of education.  email them, keep then on your facebook page etc.

Ok disclaimer time - this is a joke and not to be actually acted upon.

on the other hand I'm not nice, u have a few weeks and you seem to have some experience in computing.  telesales companies rely on databases and if you can find the backups of the database and tamper with them then they lose the company or have to explain to another company why there data isn't there.  once you've forced the error in the backup, sneak into the computer area with a cup of hot tea (the object is to knock out 3 of the harddrives, so that the raid drives can't be rebuild from existing data) they go to the backups and find corupted data.  now take the last backup copy and sell it to the competitor for loads of money.  feel any better?

To leave a job you MUST write a letter giving a MINIMUM of 4 weeks notice - any less than that the company can keep all money owed to you since the last day, and if you are really unlucky they will take you to court and sue you for breach of contract.

Just say that it was nice working for them - even it wasn't - and that you will be leaving on X.

Just hand in your 2 week/ 1 month notice and leave quietly. I'm sure your company will soon one day be caught out. I don't think it's a good idea though to drop them in it.

You should have an offer letter or a statement of terms and conditions which states what your notice period is.  If not, in the UK you can give one week`s notice, it does not matter whether they pay you weekly or monthly, one week is all you have to give unless your contract states a higher amount ie 2 weeks, 4 weeks etc.
