How do i use computer microphone?

so i've brought an ordinary microphone for my podcast project. but i cannot record the voice and i cant even find the programme for it.

i know i need audacity for podcast. but there has be another recording programme in my computer which i've never heard of right?

You don't need audacity for a podcast if you have another recording program that you like better. Only if you want to edit and your computer recording program doesn't have any editing functions. I don't use Audacity, I like Adobe Audition a lot more.

If you're using a PC, you may have Windows Recorder or a program called Recordit. Don't forget to check the cd's that came with your computer.

When you run the recording program, the mic should work. If not, use the  options menu in your recorder to change the mic settings.

Start-->Programs-->Accesories-->Entertai... Recording. (;

You should check sound settings in Control Panel. Maybe Microphone is muted.
