  1. I think the best way to make a bird feeder is to recycle something that you've already used and make it out of that. Make sure you clean it properly,  but nearly anything can be made into a bird feeder.

-Cut the side out of an old object (bleach bottle, coffee can... anything big enough for a bird to go in and eat) and hang it on a tree. When hanging, make sure it is balanced so the seed does not cause it to tip and fall out.

-Fill it with bird seed and enjoy!

You could also use two plastic or wooden bowls as a bird feeder. Drill a hole in the bottom of both of them, and thread a string or rope (dependent on size) through the hole of the first bowl, with the open part of the bowl facing downward.

Tie a knot so the bowl rests on it. Thread the second bowl onto the string with the open part facing the open part of the top bowl, but make sure there is ample room for the birds to get in and out. This way, the food and any bird inside can be sheltered from the rain. Tie a second knot below the bottom bowl so it has something to rest on. Fill the bottom bowl with food and hang it from a tree for the birds to enjoy!

I've included a link to a picture of what the final result will look like. I hope this helps!

  4. If you need one to feed wild birds in your yar, alll you need to do is have a solid surface, spread peanut butter all over it, then scatter bird seeds all around it. Birds in the wild love that! :]

  5. One of the easiest ways you probably did back in elementary school before the fear of allergies.  We still do it on occasion at our day camps at work if everyone's health waivers clear for nut allergies.

Take a pine cone and tie a piece of string to the top.

Spread the pine cone with peanut butter.  Slather it on.

Then roll the gooey thing in a a pan of wild bird seed until it is covered.

Tie your pine cone by the string to a tree of  house eve near a window you can see.  You will be amazed how popular you become with feathered friends.  Although these lumpy things are NOT pretty like a feeder you would build at summer camp birds LOVE them, especially brightly colored finches.
