  1. a frying pan

    lots of butter

    good soft bread

    and cheese

    all done!

  2. I rip Kraft singles into strips and put on the bread.  One Kraft single fills 2 sandwiches (cause I leave space between the single strips).  Then, I slice cheddar and put on.  I think the singles make it creamy, but the cheddar makes it gooey and stringy.  Yummy!

  3. 2 tablespoons butter or margarine (preferably spreadable)

4 slices bread (any kind tastes great)

1 tomato, thinly sliced (I prefer thin slices, but slice to your preference)

2 slices monterey jack pepper cheese

2 slices cheddar cheese (sharp or mild)

2 tablespoons philadelphia chive & onion cream cheese

    Directions

1Spread about 1/2 tbsp of butter (more or less, if you prefer) on one slice of bread, and place on skillet or griddle (butter side down).

2On the other side, spread 1 tbsp Chive & Onion Cream Cheese (once again you can use more or less than the recipe calls for, just use your judgment).

3Place 1 to 2 tomato slices on top of cream cheese.

4Then place 1 slice of pepper jack cheese and 1 slice of cheddar cheese on top of the tomato slices (I don't recommend using more than 1 slice of each kind of cheese, otherwise the sandwich will be overloaded).

5Spread 1/2 tbsp of the butter on the other slice of bread and place (butter side up) on the top of the sandwich.

    6Repeat for the 2nd sandwich.

7Cook until golden brown on each side & enjoy!

  4. I like grilled bacon, tomato, and cheese sandwiches.  Use sourdough bread and layer on your Cheddar cheese, cooked bacon, and tomato and it is oh so yummy!

  5. For basic grilled cheese like you would get in a restaurant, you need two slices of white bread, american cheese, and some oleo. Butter one side of each slice of bread, then put the cheese between the bread slices, leaving the buttered sides outward. Put the sandwich into a warmed frying pan over medium high heat and wait a few minutes. Lift the sandwich up with a spatula to see if it looks as brown and toasted as you like it. If so, flip it over and fry the other side. If not, leave it on that side for a little longer.

For variety, try different kinds of cheeses and breads. I like munster cheese a lot. Also, you can make ham and swiss on rye the same way. I also like to add in things like thin tomato slices or olives (I know, I have odd taste!). Be creative though, think of combos you like and give them a try!

Another thing I like to do is make my sandwiches in my Foreman grill...saves flipping and I like the grill marks and I like it when the cheese oozes out and gets crispy. It's all about what you like...start with the basic then branch out...and if you mess up a few sandwiches, all you lost was a couple pieces of bread and cheese!

    Enjoy!!!

  6. Experiment with different types of cheese! My favorites are swiss and muenster, along with the classic American. Serve it with hot tomato soup -- it's an amazing combo!

I once saw a recipe where the person cooked many grilled cheese sandwiches at a time on a baking sheet in an oven, but who knows? I say stick with the tried-and-true frying pan method.

  7. The secret is lightly buttering the outsides of the bread.  The rest of it is just good bread and good cheese.  A little "Emeril's Essence" or a pinch of cayenne pepper or something like that on the outside is a nice touch if you like a little zip.

  8. a fring pan chesse bread and butter ;D

  9. Monterey jack pepper cheese

    Sharp chedder cheese

    Mayonnaise

    Butter

    2 slices of white bread

Spread butter on frying pan. Butter the bread, Grill the bread till golden brown, Stick the cheese and mayonnaise in and make a sandwich, then enjoy!.
