How do organisms get energy ?

How do Autotrophs + Heterotrophs get energy ? And what do they have in common ? Lots of answers would be lovely (:

  1. they get nutrients from sunshine and other decomposed organisms  


  2. it all comes from sunshine ,green plants take energy from the sun (photosynthesis) nutrients and water from  the soil,and gases from the air and produce sugars and proteins powered by the sun .animals eat the plants and take up their stored energy ,carnivores eat animals and take their energy and so on...........tom
