  1. well i thought they were both - they have boy and girl parts...and yes they can breed....

  2. It all depends on the species of snail. Some snails are hermaphroditic, which means they can perform the role of either male or female, some can self-inseminate, some could have a particular s*x, etc. What type of snail do you have? Do you have a picture?

  3. Pond snails, which look like this http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&q=... breed a lot.  The females can clone themselves to produce fertile offspring even if there's not a guy around.

Apple snails, which look like this, http://images.google.com/images?gbv=2&hl... are heterosexual (need a guy and a girl to make offspring) and need a few inches of glass above the water line to lay their eggs.

Nerite snails, which look like this http://images.google.com/images?gbv=2&hl... may live but not breed in freshwater.  It takes salt in the water for them to be able to breed fertilely.

Maybe you could identify which type of snail you have and then go to google and do research on them.

  4. It depends on the species of snail. With apple or mystery snails, the kind usually sold in pet stores for aquariums, you need both male and female. With ordinary pond snails, one is capable of making plenty of baby snails, more than you will ever want.

  6. Snails have both male & female s*x organs.Usually snails of a similar size mate.So basically any two snails can breed. They do not need  to be the opposite s*x to breed like us!!  So chances are that your snails will breed - quite rapidly!!

  8. I think snails are both male and female, so any 2 snails can breed.

  9. Snails have both male and female s*x organs, when they mate, they store the sperm (somewhere) and are able to use it later if needed, snails are such slow moving creatures that they don't get to meet each other as often as they would like, so to be able to keep reproducing, they reseminate themselves with the leftover sperm from thier last lovefest! Interesting critters!
